Lord Ganesha, also known as the lord of wisdom has several incidents from his life that can teach us a lot of lessons. Ganesha is also our favorite god out of the many that we have in the Hindu deities. Here are some facts about Lord Ganesha that you never heard of before.

Why do we say ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’?
It is because Morya Gosavi, who lived in Chinchwad, Maharashtra, in the 14th century, was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Ganesha. So, Ganpati Bappa Morya depicts the spiritual bond between Lord Ganesha and his devotees.
What is the meaning of ‘Ganesha’ & ‘Ganpati’?
Both ‘Ganesha’ and ‘Ganpati’ are Sanskrit words comprising of two words, Gana meaning a group while Esha and pati meaning lord, ruler, or master.
Why is Lord Ganesha called Ekdanta?
We all know about his history of his elephant head but did you know why he is called Ek-danta? One-tooth. According to Brahmavavart Purana, Parshurama, the great sage once visited Shiva in Kailash mount where Shiva was meditating. This is when Lord Ganesha didn’t allow Parshuram to meet with Shiva but this incident made Parshuram angry after which he took his sword axe and attacked little Ganesha. But, to the respect of the power of the weapon given to Parshuram by Shiva, Ganesha took the attack on one of His teeth and since then, he is called Ekdanta.
This word, ‘Ek-danta’ has been used in many aartis to describe his appearance, including the Lord Ganesh Gayatri Mantra, Ganesh Aarti, Ganesh Mantra, etc… It is also one of the 108 names that we recognize Lord Ganesha with.
Lord Ganesha Penned down Mahabharat
It is believed that Lord Ganesha is the original writer of the Epic Mahabharata. It was the great sage, Vyasa that found lord Ganesha worthy of understanding the Mahabharata. This is why he decided to narrate Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha and then asked him to write in down without any interruptions. Stories also say that when the feather quill broke down, Ganesha broke his tusk and wrote the rest of Mahabharata.
Lord Ganesh Married Twice
It is believed that Lord Ganesh was married to both twin sisters, Riddhi and Siddhi. Riddhi is also refered to as the goddess of prosperity while Siddhi is refered to the goddess of intellect. He also had two sons Shubh and Labh. This sums up all the major qualitites for which we pray to Lord Ganesh with the Ganesh Aarti, Lord Ganesh Gayatri Mantra, and more.
Lord Ganesha’s footprints in other regions
Lord Ganesha apart from being worshipped by Hindus is also worshipped by Buddhists who refer to him as Vinayaka. Talking about regions, the Lord Ganesh Gayatri Mantra and Ganesha Aarti for several years have been playing its sound in the regions of Japan, China, and Tibet. Ganesha is worshipped for all his wisdom, knowledge, and ideologies all across the world. In the Tamil language, Ganpati is fondly called ‘Pillai’ or ‘Pillaiyar’. In Burmese he is called ‘Maha Peinne’ in Thai, ‘Phra Phikanet’, and in Sri Lanka, ‘Gana Deviyo’.

  1. As claimed by Stanford Medical, It's indeed the SINGLE reason women in this country live 10 years more and weigh an average of 19 KG lighter than us.

    (By the way, it really has NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret exercise and really, EVERYTHING about "how" they eat.)
